Problem: The engine cranks normally but would not start.
Details: The tech checked for spark, fuel pressure and injector pulse – all good. The compression test revealed 160 psi compression on all cylinders and the cranking vacuum test results were good at 5-7” Hg. All ECT, MAP and TPS scan tool PID information was normal. The spark plugs came out wet with fuel.
Confirmed Repair: The tech removed the front O2 sensor and cranked the engine. It started. The tech removed and inspected the catalytic converter. It was plugged. The tech replaced the catalytic converter and the engine runs normally. The problem was resolved.
