Vehicle: 1999 Dodge Intrepid V6-2.7L VIN R
Problem: Vehicle will run with cam sensor
disconnected – but it’s rough and misfiring. Vacuum gauge needle
is bouncing and vacuum is very low.
Details: The shop removed valve covers to
inspect the timing marks and found the right side cam sprocket
damper loose and broken. The left cam tone wheel where the sensor
picks up was bent. The timing marks were off and it looks like
the valves are bent as well.
Confirmed Repair: Replaced the engine with a
used one; it runs perfect now.
