Shop Owner’s Guide to SEMA and AAPEX
Why You Don’t Want To Miss The Shows
As a busy shop owner, taking time out to attend the SEMA and AAPEX isn’t easy. While it’s fun to check out the latest developments in the industry and gawk at the over-the-top customs, you’ve got bills to pay. Every hour away from the shop costs you money. There has to be more in it for you than just eye candy.
And there is!
Every year, shop owners hear about dozens of important topics, see hundreds of new products, and come away from the week with thousands of new ideas for growing their businesses and boosting shop profits. This year promises more of the same, with the emphasis on MORE. The SEMA Show will be the largest in its 47-year history and includes a New Product Showcase featuring more than 2,500 must-see innovations in a 35,000 square-foot space. You’ll find 5,000 exhibitor booths at AAPEX and almost 500 new exhibitors at SEMA this year.
Plenty for Everyone
Whether your shop delivers mechanical or collision repairs, or both, there will be more new products and valuable information available – more than you can possibly see or hear.
Highlights for Collision Shop Owners: The SEMA Show has expanded its Collision Repair & Refinish as well as its Tools & Equipment sections by 25 percent—growing from 88,000 square feet to about 110,000 square feet, making it easy to see all products related to collision in one spot. In addition, collision industry groups, including the Collision Industry Conference (CIC), National Auto Body Council (NABC) and Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) will host meetings and educational tracks. SEMA has also partnered with industry leaders to bring you special collision-focused training, including:
SCRS Repairer Driven Education Series (RDES)
Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) – Collision Repair Training For Performance
AAPEX 2013 offers almost 200 exhibitors in its Paint, Body and Equipment section alone and more than 400 exhibitors in its Tools area. You’ll also find free courses with fresh information you can implement immediately to grow your business.
Highlights for Repair Shop Owners: This is your chance to learn about and see new technologies that are going to find their way into your shop. Soon you’ll be called upon to repair vehicles using this technology, including the latest in onboard electronics, electrical systems, exhaust systems, and more. You’ll also learn about changes brought about by new government regulations and how they’re going to affect your shop and the way you do business. In addition to exhibitor products at the SEMA and AAPEX, there will be a number of free and fee-required courses available, including:
The SEMA Show offers a number of free courses, with tracks that include Mobile Electronics and forums & keynote speakers in the Vehicle Technology Center.
The free AAPEX Learning Forum offers courses with enticing titles, such as “Wallet Flushing”, “Direct Injection Technology Update,” and “TPMS Smart Maintenance and Repair.”
AAPEX and AVI have once again teamed up to bring you the AVI Training Conference, offering high-end technical training for an additional fee. It’s a great way to make the time away pay dividends throughout the year.
Highlights for ALL Business Owners: As always, there will be a strong focus placed on understanding the trends that affect you, how to improve shop operations, and innovative ways to grow your business.
