'96 Chrysler Sebring, Body Control Module

Q: I own a 1’96 Chrysler Sebring Convertible and I’m having problems with my tachometer and speedometer blanking out for a long time. They are off more than they are on. The odometer appears to keep good mileage. Also, my gas gauge fluctuates, my dimmer control will not dim the lights and the fog lights operate intermittently. All this happens sporadically. I think it’s the body control module. I checked the connections on the instrument cluster and a few of the grounds and all looks ok. What’s your opinion?

A: The symptoms of the components you’ve mentioned are just a small part of the kingdom overseen by the body control module. It sounds as if the high and mighty module is faltering and a new ruler (computer) is in your vehicle’s future.
