Let’s look at a recent case study that illustrates how

quickly solve a wiring problem.
Case Details: After replacing the Bank 1
O2 sensor, the tech noted that the powertrain fuse
#22 had blown. He replaced the O2 sensor again, but
the fuse problem reoccurred. At that point, he called ALLDATA
Tech-Assist for some guidance.
The Repair: Using a wiring diagram for
reference, the Tech-Assist consultant first guided the
technician through the testing of the O2 sensor’s
power, ground, and control circuits. They found that the power
supply from fuse #22 to the Bank 1 O2 sensor was
shorted to ground… but where?
Using Rescue Lens (at
his desk), the Tech-Assist consultant linked to the
technician’s smart phone camera (in the shop). He was able to
view the entire harness and circled the area of questionable
contact on the tech’s smartphone screen. The technician was
able to quickly locate that section of the harness and
isolate the problem. The wiring harness had rubbed through on
an A/C line. The tech repaired the wiring and the problem was
