Wow! SEMA 2015 lived up to its reputation as the year’s most
action-packed industry event. There were nearly 3,000 new
product announcements, tricked-out vehicles of all kinds, and
too many fun events to list. If you missed the show this year,
here’s a wrap-up of some of the most interesting, exciting, and
eye-popping things we saw…
The Toyota Ultimate Utility Vehicle (pictured
above). Minivan? Off-road truck? More like a Dark Knight-era
Batmobile for the whole family! The UUV is a combination of the
Sienna minivan body with a 4×4 chassis. Designed for the
Ever-Better Expedition, part of Toyota’s Five Continents
Driving Project, it’s super-charged in every sense – from
suspension to exterior to the mobile command center that
includes a 60-inch TV, mobile Internet, Wi-Fi, USB ports, 2,500
audio system, and a night vision camera system. Amazing!
We met the World’s Youngest Monster Truck Driver. Shane
Plato is just seven years old and drives the Skull
Crusher, a mini monster truck. Part of “Team Kid KJ”, he is one
of six kids who drive monster trucks across the country,
competing and demonstrating their talents. He started driving
at age five and has already performed in more than 20 shows
Ford took the lead in SEMA’s annual award contest . These
“hottest vehicles” are the models that specialty-equipment
manufacturers believe are the best platforms for
accessorizing and showcasing the show’s most innovative and
exciting products. Consumers can expect to find a variety of
specialty accessories for these models based on their
popularity. Check them out!
Hottest Sports Compact
The New Product Showcase introduced a variety of
cool tools, including:
Boom Mat - A simple solution to dampen noise – as
demonstrated by their “when you need less cowbell” hands-on
The SEMA Cruise (see our Twitter feed) was a
fantastic way to end the show. There was no shortage of amazing
vehicles out cruisin’ – from stock to fully-customized and
everything in between. Inspiring!
SEMA 2015 – Thanks for the great time. We’re already looking
forward to 2016’s show!
