Vehicle: 2003 Toyota Corolla CE Sedan, L4-1.8L (1ZZ-FE), Automatic Transmission

Mileage: 118,330

Problem: The vehicle was towed in for a no-start condition. The customer says the engine just stopped and would not start again.

Details: The technician verified the engine cranked but had no spark. He found codes P1300, P1305, P1310, P1315 – Igniter Circuit Malfunction Cylinders 1, 2, 3, 4. The technician also verified a good fuel injector signal but says the IGT signal at the ignition coils switches from 2-6 volts square wave instead of 0-12 volts, and it seemed like an erratic signal.

Confirmed Repair: On recommendation of the Tech-Assist consultant, the technician checked and verified the PCM power and grounds. They were good. He replaced the PCM with a new pre-programmed unit. The engine started and ran normally.
