WHY A STELLANTIS TSB CAN MEAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SUCCESSFUL REPAIR AND SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE
Cologne, Germany – 20 May, 2026 – Some Citroën applications are equipped with DV engines, which are compliant with Euro 6.3, and it is these vehicles where a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) from Stellantis is vital. That is because it provides information that can be easily overlooked – applicable to fault codes P0017, P050B, P02ED and P00BC.
Some of the issues being reported to ALLDATA’s Info Centre include failure to start, rough engine operation and abnormal noises from the camshaft timing chain area. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are being stored, indicating possible timing chain elongation or incorrect valve timing. In many cases, additional combustion or backpressure noises can also be heard in the intake system.
The root cause is often a broken or dislodged timing chain, which might happen during engine start or while driving. This can lead to substantial damage in the valve train.
Solution
Stellantis has responded to this issue by releasing a TSB that describes a technical modification as part of a service measure. Instead of the original design, an upgraded 8mm timing chain is specified.
However, this information is not clearly documented in standard repair manuals or parts catalogues. Without being aware of the TSB, there is a risk that an unsuitable 7mm timing chain will be used again.

Crucial clarification to help compliance
While the original repair may have been performed correctly, because of the updated documents, a real risk remains. If a repeat failure is brought into the workshop later, not only do time and costs increase, but so does legal liability.
The Stellantis TSB describes how to identify the current chain type and how to perform an inspection and up-to-date repair – up to and including replacement of the internal combustion engine, depending on the condition of the chambers.
Highlighting the importance of up-to-date OEM TSBs
Current TSBs can guide even the most experienced technicians, helping them to avoid costly repairs, reduce the risk of comebacks and consequential damage, and ensure compliant repairs.
ALLDATA provides the latest, unedited technical information – directly from the manufacturer. This includes TSBs, recalls, and technical updates that are not always clearly identified in standard documentation. With data from 44 VMs and more than 167,000 unique combinations of make, model, year and powertrain – representing 97% of the European car parc – ALLDATA is a vital workshop companion.
