Silverado Front Passenger Window Inoperative
Feb. 01 2024
Feb. 01 2024

Vehicle: 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500, 4WD, V8-5.3L, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle

Mileage: 102,399

Problem: The owner brought his Silverado to the shop because the passenger window motor stopped working. He said that the window had stuck about halfway, but then went back up after closing and opening the door a few times.

Case Details: The tech connected a scan tool and pulled the following diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

  • B1380 04 - Control Module Ignition Accessory Circuit
  • U0422 - Invalid Data Received from Body Control Module
  • U153A - K9 Body Control Module Lost Communication with S79P Window Switch - Passenger on LIN Bus

He checked the fuses. They were all good and powered up. At this point, he decided to call ALLDATA Tech-Assist for some diagnostic help.

The Tech-Assist consultant said that they had noticed that many Silverado window motor problems were caused by water infiltration in the door harness connectors. Although there are connectors in both doors, sometimes a problem only in the driver’s door will affect the passenger side as well. Also, DTC U153A is usually one of the codes that is often found.

The tech removed the driver and passenger door panels to inspect the harness connectors. He found one water-damaged terminal on the driver's side harness connector and two on the passenger side.

Confirmed Repair: The tech repaired the harness connector terminals and cleared the DTCs. After the repairs, the passenger window operated normally. Fixed!
