Vehicle: 2017 Ford Fusion AWD V6-2.7L Turbo Automatic Transmission/Transaxle

Mileage: 92,024 Miles

Problem: After a technician replaced an A/C line, which required the front bumper to be removed, the tech started the vehicle with the ambient temperature sensor disconnected.

Case Details: After reconnecting everything and verifying the correct voltage at the powertrain control unit (PCM), the technician found the PCM would not allow the A/C compressor to engage because it did not see a proper ambient temperature sensor voltage. A quick call to ALLDATA Tech-Assist provided an easy answer.

The consultant advised clearing the keep alive memory (KAM) in the PCM then checking to see if the compressor would engage.

Confirmed Repair: The technician cleared the KAM, which reset the PCM and allowed it to read to correct ambient temperature sensor voltage. The A/C compressor engaged and the system operated normally. Easy fix!
