Problem: This vehicle was brought to the shop with the Malfunction Indication Lamp on. The technician found DTC 0814, a manufacturer’s code for “Left bank secondary air injection pump malfunction.” The standard SAE code for this same issue is P0410.
Details: The technician tried to activate the air pump with the scan tool. The pump did not operate. Next, he inspected the air pump fuse. On these vehicles, the fuse often blows because the pump is drawing too many amps.
Confirmed Repair: In this case, the fuse was blown and the air pump motor failed an amperage draw test. The tech replaced the fuse and the air pump. The code was cleared and the problem was resolved.
