Ford F450 Backup Camera Only Shows Front View

Vehicle: 2018 Ford F450, 4WD, Super Duty V8-6.7L DSL Turbo, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle

Mileage: 96,221 Miles

Problem: When shifted into reverse, the front-facing camera displays on the screen, not the rear. NOTE: The shop had changed the cab on this truck.

Case Details: Electrically swapping the front and rear cameras had no effect on the system because the cameras are recognized by their serial numbers in the image processing module B (IPMB). The technician tried to reboot the display unit, but that made no difference. There were no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in any module. It was time to call ALLDATA Tech-Assist.

The Tech-Assist consultant said the simplest explanation would be to swap a coax cable with another connector during the cab change and recommended looking at the wiring harness diagrams/locations to recheck the work. He also advised trying to reassign all the cameras to their current locations.

The technician checked the wiring. It was correct. Next, he manually reassigned the cameras to their locations in the IPMB.

Confirmed Repair: After reassigning the camera locations in the IPMB with a Ford IDS, the front and rear cameras displayed the correct orientation. Easy fix!
