TECH TIP
CHEVY EQUINOX WITH DTCS C056D 39 AND C0460
Sep. 12 2017
Sep. 12 2017

Vehicle: 2008 Chevy Truck Equinox, AWD, V6-3.4L, Automatic Transmission

Mileage: 89,453

Problem: When this vehicle came into the shop, the DLC was on and the tech pulled DTCs C0460 – Steering Angle Sensor and C056D 39 – ECU Hardware Performance Internal Electronic Failure. The Tech performed the TSB 07-02-32-009 to update the EBCM and PSCM. After the flash, the Tech could not calibrate the steering sensor.

Details: The tech checked power and grounds to the sensor to see if there was a return signal.
There was no return signal. The most likely cause would be a faulty sensor or a wiring issue.

Confirmed Repair: The tech found a poor connection at the PSCM module and repaired it. He also replaced the power steering control module with a used one. After those repairs, the vehicle started operation normally with no codes.
