Vehicle: 2022 Ford F59 Commercial Chassis, V8-7.3L, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle

Mileage: 21,322 miles

Problem: The truck was brought to the shop because after hitting a bump, and the engine would not accelerate. The malfunction indicator light (MIL) came on. The owner also noticed that the hill assist, AdvanceTrack, and traction control were disabled.

Case Details: The technician connected a scan tool and found the following diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs):

  • P0522-00: Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch 'A' Low: No Sub Type Information
  • P06A7-00: Sensor Reference Voltage 'B' Circuit Range/Performance: No Sub Type Information

When looking at the pinpoint tests in ALLDATA, there were about 11 reasons why each DTC would trigger, and they all centered around connectors and wiring. After a close inspection of the engine compartment, the technician found the wiring harness for the fan clutch was frayed and rubbing on the water pump pulley. When they hit the bump, the power wire for the fan clutch shorted to ground.

Confirmed Repair: The technician repaired the wires and replaced both belts. After clearing the DTCs, he took the truck on a good test drive over some bumps. No further problems. Easy fix!
