2009–2010 Corolla owners have reported that their automatic shifter suddenly feels like it belongs in a CrossFit box. Updated bulletin T-SB-0310-10 has your culprit, the shift lever cover slide has gone rogue. When damaged or misaligned, this tiny part can turn a simple gear change into a bicep-busting ordeal. The fix? Replace the position indicator slide cover, shift lever knob cover, light guide, and floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly, then re-assemble the shifter with all the new parts in place. You’ll need to peel off the lower instrument panels, yank the center cluster finish panel, and twist off the shift knob, but once it’s all back together, your shifter will glide smoother than a TikTok dance.

The detailed repair procedure is included in the TSB.
