High Water Mark Escapes from Behind Headliner
TRENDING TSB
2013-2018 Escape customers have reported suspicious water stains surfacing on their headliner, despite never submerging their vehicles. These water marks exhibit a stained headliner after the vehicle has experienced a water leak from areas such as the roof opening panel, fixed glass, roof rails and roof ditch mouldings. Since nothing says “customer concern” than a ceiling that sweats more than the tech on flat rate, Ford issued technical service bulletin 17-2218. To clean a water-stained headliner, first confirm the presence of stains and open all vehicle doors. Dampen a clean white cotton towel with water (distilled if in a hard water area), apply Motorcraft® ZC-54 Cleaner or equivalent to both the towel and the stained area, let it soak for one minute, then wipe from the outer edge toward the center with even pressure. Snag the shop fan and aim it at affected areas to dry and repeat the process once more if needed.
The detailed repair procedure is included in the TSB.
