Oct. 04 2022

Vehicle: 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500, 4WD, V8-5.3L, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle

Mileage: 145,864

Problem: This vehicle was brought in because the turn signals didn't work on the left side. The customer had replaced the fuse, but it blew as soon as the turn signals were used.

Case Details: The technician took apart the front and rear light assemblies but could not find the short. He also inspected the harnesses, but everything looked good. An ALLDTA Tech-Assist consultant gave him some further diagnostic tests.

The consultant said to use the exterior lighting diagram to check the side marker lights and the left side mirror for a short. The technician found the driver’s mirror had been hit and slightly damaged. With the mirror unplugged, the circuit no longer shorted.

Confirmed Repair: The technician installed a new factory mirror, and the problem was solved. Easy Fix!
