Why Do I Sometimes Get a Disc Update and Sometimes an Online Update?

What determines if SUBSCRIPTION updates are done through a disc or online?

  • If your shop does NOT have an internet connection, you can request that a disc (CD) be mailed to you.

  • If your shop DOES have an internet connection, your shop's computer automatically "calls" ALLDATA's main computer system to "ask" if any program updates are available.

    • Once a connection is made, the update is downloaded to your shop's computer and an update icon automatically appears on your computer desktop.
