Updating the Time, Date and Time Zone
Follow the steps below for your version of Windows:

Not sure which version you have? Click HERE.
Windows XP

Double-click on the time displayed in your System Tray (the default location is in the bottom-right corner of your screen).

In the Date and Time Properties box, on the Date & Time tab:

Confirm that the Date and Time are correct.

To change the date, click the arrows next to the month or year, or click the correct date. Click Apply.

To change the time, double-click the hour/minute/second that you want to change, then type the correct number or click the up/down arrows. Click Apply.

On the Time Zone tab:
-
Confirm that the Time Zone is set to your geographic location.

To change the time zone, click the dropdown arrow and click the desired time zone. Click Apply.

Check the box for Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes. Click Apply.

On the Internet Time tab (if your computer has one):
-
Click Update Now.
-
Wait for the message stating The clock was successfully synchronized with (server name) on (today's date and time).

If you receive an error message instead, click the dropdown arrow, click a different Server and click Update Now. Repeat until the synchronization is successful.

Click Apply.
-

If any changes were made to the date, time, time zone or Internet time, click OK to save the changes and close the window.
Windows Vista/Windows 7

Right-click on the time displayed in your System Tray (the default location is in the bottom-right corner of your screen).

Click Adjust Date/Time.

On the Date and Time tab:
-
Confirm that the Date and Time are correct.

If not correct, click Change date and time.
-
To change the date, click an arrow next to the month, or click the correct date.

To change the time, double-click the hour/minute/second that you want to change, then type the correct number or click the up/down arrows.

Click OK.

Click Change time zone EVEN IF THE CORRECT TIME ZONE IS SHOWING.

In the Time Zone Settings box:
-
Confirm that the time zone is set to your geographic location.

To change the time zone, click the dropdown arrow and click the desired time zone.

Check the box for Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes.
-
Click OK.

On the Internet Time tab (if your computer has one):
-
Click Change Settings.
-
If a User Account Control window pops up, click Continue.
-
In the Internet Time Settings box:
-
Check the box for Synchronize with an Internet time server.
-
Click Update Now.
-
Wait for the message stating, "The clock was successfully synchronized with time.windows.com on (today's date and time)."

If you receive an error message instead, click the dropdown arrow, click a different Server and click Update Now. Repeat until the synchronization is successful.

Click OK.
